It’s National Roofing Week

Did you know there is such a thing as National Roofing Week? It’s hosted by the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) and takes place each summer. This year, it’s June 5-11 so it’s coming to a close in the next couple days. What is the National Roofing Week and why is it important? Good question.

Roofs are commonly overlooked, yet they are one of the most important structures of a business or a home. National Roofing Week was developed to highlight the importance of having a sound roof and underscore the importance of having a well-trained and respected contractor for roof installations and repairs.

At Solar Roof Dynamics, we are all too aware of the importance of roofing contractors. Our CEO, Aaron Nitzkin  is an industry veteran, with over a decade of experience in the solar industry. In fact, he built and ran the solar division for one of the largest roofing contractors in the U.S. and played a key role in taking the POWERHOUSE Solar Shingle to market while he was working at Dow Chemical. His deep experience in the solar industry gave him a vision that is the cornerstone of Solar Roof Dynamics:  The best solar installations are done by vetted, trained, and skilled roofing contractors.

On average, the life cycle of a roof is 25-30 years. Solar panels have similar lifespans. Consumers get the best value out of solar when they time the

installation of solar with when they are making major repairs on their roofs or replacing their roofs entirely because the life cycles match. This is something that is often overlooked and by consumers and not always pointed out by solar contractors. What’s more, up to 20% of solar installations come with roofing problems that often lead to leaks and can be extremely costly to fix.

Wanting better for his customers, Nitzkin formed a Signature Dealer Network of highly vetted and trained roofing contractors so that consumers could be aware of the benefits of solar and install it at the best time—when they are already doing significant work on their roofs. Additionally, consumers enjoy quality installations free of the most common roofing mistakes made by contractors that lack roofing expertise.

Roofing contractors benefit from the Signature Dealer program too—many have transformed their bottom line by adding solar to their offerings. It’s s true win-win where consumers save money on their electric bills and optimize their solar installations and roofing contractors benefit too.So what are we doing to celebrate national roofing week? We sponsored a solar fair in Davis, CA, the City that houses our headquarters. Homeowners not only had the opportunity to ask questions about going solar, but our staff was able to educate them about all the points we just made in this blog post. In fact, you can watch our CEO promote the event here.

And next time you pull away from your house, look up and thank your roof for its hard work day in and day out. Yes, we do take it for granted but it has the potential to power our entire home, let alone keep us cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Do you know how old your roof is? Do you need roof repairs or replacements? Have you considered going solar? This might be the week to put some thought into these important questions. Happy National Roofing Week!
